Wayne Short Obituary

Wayne Dee Short was born on October 26, 1941, and he entered his eternal life on August 24, 2024. Wayne was the first-born child of Albert and Rhoda Short. He had a brother who joined the family, named Lyman “Jim” Short. Wayne was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in his teenage years, he walked into a café and fell in love with a cute waitress named Linda Jean Mackley. Wayne and Linda later decided to elope and were married in Nevada on May 14, 1967. Wayne and Linda were later sealed in the Ogden, Utah Temple on May 14, 1976. Wayne and Linda had two children, a girl who was born premature on December 13, 1967, Robin Lynne, and two years later Roger Wayne Short on August 20, 1969.

Wayne and Linda raised their family in Minidoka County, Wayne worked in the local communities in the surrounding area in the potato factories. Wayne enjoyed being in the great outdoors, he liked to fish and camp with his kids, and later with his grandkids, he enjoyed a great game of chess when he could find someone who wanted to play, as the years went on he was unable to leave his home due to health conditions, he truly enjoyed when people came to visit with him, and bring him candy (root beer barrels, butter scotch, peppermint). Wayne was loved by many of the local young kids of the neighborhood, they would come to the window and wave at him and grandma short or come in and sit down and watch a show until their parents could return home, they were the neighborhood grandparents.

Wayne is survived by his beautiful wife Linda of 57 years, his daughter Robin Short-Taylor, and her children Terrence, Jesse (Madison), Kourtney (Logan), and Emilee, and his son Roger (Lisa) Short and their children, Brian, Kaylynn, Suzette, Tia, Natasha, Tierra, and Jaidyn, and 17 great-grandchildren.
