Our beloved mother and wife, Wendy Jean Staker, passed away at home on December 11, 2024, surrounded by her family. She fought health issues for a while and decided that it was time to end that battle. We know that she was welcomed home by family and friends that had gone on before her and that she was wrapped up in the arms of her loving Heavenly Father. While she will be sorely missed, we cannot help but imagine the rejoicing that took place when she returned to her Heavenly home.

Wendy was born on April 24, 1952, to Don and Nona Jacobs. She was raised with her 4 sisters: Jo, Lee, Gwen, and Rexanne on the family farm in Declo, Idaho. The girls were expected to work side by side with their parents and Wendy was not excused from farm work, though she tried. A television met an early demise because Wendy wanted to watch TV rather than do her chores. As it goes with siblings, her and her sisters were in constant competition whether it be thinning beets or milking cows. This competitive drive led to Wendy competing for Rodeo Queen, playing softball, and riding with the Minidoka Wranglers.

It was working on the farm where Wendy met her future husband, Maury Staker. Maury started working for Don Jacobs when Wendy crossed his path. Realizing that there would never be a better wife for him than Wendy, the two were married on October 12, 1973. They would move to a home in Rupert where they started their family. Brandy Dawn was born on May 13, 1976. She was the joy of their lives until the disrupter of the peace, Amanda Jean, came

along 14 months later on July 10, 1977. The family was completed by the arrival of Adam Lowell on August 14, 1982.

Wendy had a zest for life. She loved to play softball and volleyball, not only playing with her daughters but served as their coach on several occasions. She loved to ride horses, snowmobile, water ski, read and spend time with her family. The family spent time going to plays at Hale Center theater and vacationing with friends and

family. Christmases and birthdays were made more special because of surprise gifts and purposefully bad singing. She loved being a wife to Maury, a mother to her children and being the grandmother to Josslynn and Joshua. She will always be remembered for her sound advice, shoulder to cry on, and phrases only she could come up with. However, it is the sound of her laughter that will echo in the recesses of our minds. No one laughed like Wendy. It was rich, loud, and infectious.

Wendy was a uniquely beautiful soul. She never fully realized the deep impact she had on the lives of her family and those around her. She had a quiet yet profound testimony of the gospel and dearly loved her Heavenly Father. Wendy is survived by her husband of 51 years Maury Staker, her children Brandy Staker, Amanda (John) Staker-Shirts, Adam Staker, her grandchildren Joshua and Josslynn Shirts and her sisters Jo Holms, Lee (Roger) Biale, Gwen (Clifford) Crossley, and Rexanne Parke. She is preceded in death by her parents Don and Nona Jacobs and brother-in-law Gene Holms.
