In Loving Memory of Wilma Ruth P. Mecham
December 15, 1927 – August 8, 2025
Wilma Ruth P. Mecham passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025, at the age of 97, surrounded by her loving family at her daughter’s home in Paul, Idaho.
Born on December 15, 1927, in Neosho, Missouri, Ruth was the only child of Stella Mae Hylton Floyd and Henry Paul Floyd. She carried the warmth and strength of her upbringing throughout her life, touching the hearts of everyone who knew her.
On March 2, 1963, Ruth married the love of her life, Norman Glen Mecham, in Elko, Nevada. Together they shared 58 beautiful years of marriage until Norman’s passing. Ruth’s life was marked by deep devotion—to her family, and her country. She became a Gold Star Mother when her beloved son, Paul Elmer, was tragically killed in the Vietnam War in 1968.
Ruth is survived by her daughters Susan Duran (Jimmy) of Ogden, Utah, and Brenda L. Toms of Paul, Idaho. She leaves behind a legacy of love through 12 grandchildren (with one deceased), 35 great-grandchildren (with one deceased), and 18 great-great-grandchildren—with one more on the way.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers from Intermountain Health and Hospice, and to Hansen Mortuary in Rupert, Idaho, for their dedicated support.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 22nd at 11:30 a.m. at Hansen Mortuary, 710 6th Street, Rupert, Idaho. Placement will be at Paul Cemetery, 573 100 North Road, Paul, Idaho. Following the placement, a luncheon will be served at the LDS Church, Emerald 1st Ward, 300 South 500 West, Heyburn, Idaho. Arrangements are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.
Ruth’s life was a testament to resilience, grace, and unwavering love. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
