Albert Bradley

Albert Melvin Bradley, 63, was born on September 2, 1955 in Blackfoot, Idaho, to Dal Gene Bradley Sr. and Helen Marie Walton Bradley. He had one brother, Gene, and two sisters, Dalrie and Teresa. He lived out his youth in Moreland, Idaho and attended schools in the Snake River School District. He graduated from Snake River High School in 1973. When he was 18, the family moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho where he has mostly resided.
Mel married Lona Roxanne Sullivan on October 29, 1975. Together they had and raised four children: Cody Jo, Lona Cheyeanne, Sheriden Marie, and Autumn Irene. They also had two children which they lovingly gave to two families who wanted babies of their own: Charlie King and Cory Tawzer. Mel dearly loved all of his children, and was delighted to find and know Charlie and Cory once they were grown. Mel was an extremely loving father who would do anything for his children without question or judgment. His children and grandchildren were his world and universe. He also deeply loved Lona, and always tried to do his best for her. They were later divorced, but his love remained the same. His love grew as his children had families of their own, and extended to all of his grandchildren.
Mel had several health issues which prevented him from working at his desired profession for very long. He trained at ISU to be a law enforcement officer. He worked in law enforcement in Challis, Idaho for a few years; and as a jailer in Idaho Falls for a while. He loved being a police officer, and he loved serving and helping those in need. With his big heart, he worked for a few years helping those with developmental challenges. Mel also drove hay trucks for a contractor in the Burley area for a few summers. He finally had to take out disability on his own when he could no longer move around freely.
Mel was stubborn from beginning to end. As a young child the doctors found he had Perthes Disease, which compromises the hip joints. He was in and out of braces, wheelchairs, and casts during his elementary years. He also had the family predisposition to bad backs and had surgery there, as well as his hips. Mel had to use double crutches for many years. In January 2017, Mel was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. He was determined to be one of the 10°/O that beat the disease, and for 20 months it looked like he really would beat it. The last two months, the cancer started winning, and he finally succumbed to that dreaded disease.
Mel is survived by his children: Cody (Krista) Bradley of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho, Cheyeanne ( Matthew) Maxwell of Idaho Falls, Sheriden Lyons of Shelley, Idaho, Autumn Bradley (and Daniel) of Idaho Falls, Idaho. He is survived by 13 grandchildren. Mel is also survived by his mother, Helen Bradley of Burley, Idaho, and his sister Teresa (Leonardo) Vargas of Burley, Idaho and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was greeted in Heaven by his father, Dal Gene Bradley Sr., his brother, Dal Gene Bradley Jr., his sister, Dalrie Petrea Bradley, his grandparents, and many aunts and uncles. A very special thank you and honor goes to Mel's grandson, Uziel Diego Bradley, who lived with him and cared for him during the last year of his life. Also, thanks and honor to Keilahn Allen, who lived with his grandpa for a while before Uziel took over.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Hansen Funeral Home in Rupert, Idaho under the direction of Joel Heward. He will be buried in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Burley following the funeral. A viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m. prior to the funeral.
We would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and hospice nurses at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center who took such good care of Mel during the last few days of his life, and throughout his ordeal with cancer.
