Glen Schenk Obituary

Glen A. Schenk 75 passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2019.  Glen A. was born in Rupert, Idaho on December 22, 1943 to Vera and Bill Schenk. Glen was a lifelong resident of Rupert and dedicated his life to farming in the area.  Glen attended Pershing elementary school then Washington Middle School and finally Minico Senior High School.  After graduating High School in 1962 he went on to study at Idaho State University.  While attending ISU he was married to Arlene Buerkle, and from this union they were blessed with a daughter Terrie Lin.  Arlene and Glen later divorced.

Glen developed a love for agriculture from his childhood and pursued farming.   Along with farming Glen also had a passion for raising cattle.  His farm was a haven for him, and he would often gather there with his friends to chat and reminisce about the good ole days.  Glen traveled to far reaching places like Valley Wide almost every morning to grab coffee and talk with friends.  Glen also loved spending time with his family and telling stories about his life. You would rarely catch Glen without a baseball cap, a good book to read, and in his red pickup.  Along with his signature wave you would see around town, he also had a contagious laugh.

In 2003 Glen and JoAnne Hollenbeck were married, and with JoAnne, Glen became a stepfather to four more daughters.  Glen was easy going and never met a stranger, he will be greatly missed by all that knew him.  He is preceded in death by his parents Vera and Bill Schenk, his baby sister Shirley, his granddaughter Aimee Souza, and his stepdaughter Jodie Pero.  He is survived by his wife JoAnne Hollenbeck-Schenk, his daughter Terrie (Rodney) Denker, his brother Jay Schenk, his grandsons Austin Souza and Benjamin Pero, his granddaughter Lennon Koestner, his stepdaughters Susan (Kal) Koestner, Esther (Tyler) Garner, and Mary Hollenbeck.
