May 5, 1943 ~ December 16, 2019 (age 76)

Obituary

Richard (Dick) Paul Cobbley, 76, passed away on Monday December 16, 2019.  He was born May 19, 1943 in Pocatello, Idaho to Myron E. and Sibyl Slater Cobbley.  Richard graduated from Seminary in 1961 and graduated from Pocatello High School in 1962.  He was a deacon in the LDS church for a period, however, in approximately 2008, Richard re-dedicated his life to God and attended church at Living Waters Christian Fellowship located on Garrett Way in Pocatello.

Richard served in the U.S. Navy from 1963 to 1967.   He served on the U.S.S. Vogelsang, D.D. 862.   Richard went to work at the J.R. Simplot Company at the Don Plant south of Pocatello. Richard worked at J.R. Simplot’s Company until he retired after working there for 41 years.

Richard married Pauline (Brown) Huber in 1966.  They had one child Michael Cobbley.  They were later divorced.  Richard married Janet Rose Hahn.   To this union two more children, Rob (Robert), and Rachelle were born.  Janet died in 1980.  Richard met Sherry Hillebrant and they spent many years together.  They were later divorced.

Richard loved camping, riding his 4-wheeler, hunting, spending time with his family, and his grandchildren.   Richard was a dad to many children and grandchildren that happened to come into his life for many years.  They all loved him dearly and he loved them as well. Richard remained active with many projects and helped his daughter Rachelle paint the building for her daycare (many times).  In 2010, Richard suffered a heart attack which was the start of his health issues.  Even then, Richard still got out as much as possible and spent time with his family.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Myron and Sibyl Cobbley, and three brothers, Leroy, Larry and David.  Richard is survived by his three children, Michael (Ana) Cobbley of Glendale, Az, Rob (Kari) Cobbley of Rupert, Idaho, and Rachelle (Kory) Wheatley of Glendale, AZ.  His Grandchildren, Dallyce Metzger, Grace and Vance Wheatley of Glendale, AZ, Mason Cobbley of Rupert, Idaho.  Great Grandchildren Sebastion and Laila Wheatley also of Glendale, AZ.  His brother Bill (Sandy) Cobbley, of Blackfoot, Idaho, Sisters, Diane (Jim) Allen of Pocatello, Id, Cheryl (Gale) Reaves of American Falls, Idaho.

He will be greatly missed.  The family would like to thank everyone who visited with Richard while he resided at Monte Vista Hills care facility.  We would also like to thank the many doctors, nurse’s and care staff that cared for him there.

As per Richard’s wishes and the family, cremation has taken place and no formal services will be held.  Sometime in the summer, when the time is right Richard’s remains will be spread at his favorite hunting, camping and fishing spots.
