Allen LaVor Harris

Allen “LaVor” Harris, 78, died peacefully at his home on July 18, 2020 after a long illness. 

LaVor was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho on January 22, 1942 to Clifford and Ileane Harris.  He was the second of 5 children.  He was married to Nina Bean Harris on July 9, 1965.  He had been living in Jerome, ID for the last few years with his wife Nina and daughter Becci.

He is survived by his wife Nina Harris, his daughters, and their spouses:  Karen and Richard Kelso of Shelly, ID, Brenda and Owen Prescott of Twin Falls, Idaho and Rebecca “Becci” Harris of Jerome, ID.  He also had several grandchildren:  Jason Pehrson, Pamela and Chad McNees, Kristen Prescott, Cody and Sandy Prescott, Skye and Olin Rytting, Mathew and Brittany Madsen, Codi Kelso, and Allen and Kirsten Madsen.

Those who preceded him in death include:  his father and mother, Clifford and Ileane Harris, his sisters Denise Loftquist and Lorilei Ferguson and brother Carl Harris.  His in-laws Fred E Bean, Edith E Bean and Kirk Bean and his brother’s in-law Rulon Mille, Jim Winder and David Loftquist.

LaVor loved to hunt, fish and work with wood making the most beautiful canes.  One of the highlights of his later life was to go to Jackpot.  He didn’t want to stay long but he loved to go.  He was quite a jokester and enjoyed getting your goat whenever possible.  He loved the grandkids and got down in the floor with them to play whenever he could.  He was an Army Veteran from the Vietnam war where he was a dog handler.  He was a true hero and will be missed. 

Farewell services will be held at his residence 325 7th Ave West in Jerome, ID on Saturday July 25, 2020 at 11 am with a viewing beginning at 10 am.  He will then be cremated and laid to rest in the Jerome cemetery at a later date.  

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Jason Robertson at the Hansen Mortuary in Rupert, Idaho.
