Jerry George Voss, 80 year old resident of Heyburn, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Minidoka Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 20, 1942, in Twin Falls, Idaho, son of George Voss Jr. and Norma Reynolds Voss. As a young child Jerry started working in the kitchen at restaurants alongside his father. He graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1960. He married Mary Crosser, and they had a son, Todd Brophy. They later divorced and Jerry joined the Army National Guard, entering into service in February of 1964. He completed MOS school in Fort Knox and worked as a general vehicle mechanic during his time in the service. He was honorably discharged in November 1969.
Jerry worked in many different restaurants throughout his life. One of his preciously remember restaurant experiences was at the Ponderosa. This is where he met and fell in love with his wife of 51 years, Rose Babcock. They were married January 18, 1971, and had three children, Debbie, George, and Christy. He later worked at the Burley Inn as the restaurant and bar manager, Sodbusters, and George K’s Restaurant. While he spent much time in the kitchen he also worked as a realtor, broker, and insurance agent.
Many people from the area know Jerry because of his volunteer work with several organizations. He was civil defense II under George Faulkner. He volunteered with Civil Air Patrol, The Red Cross, Citizens on Patrol, Crime Stoppers, Mini-Cassia Vets, American Legion, and The Lions Club. He attended First Baptist Church in Burley and was a devout Christian who loved the Lord. Jerry received many awards for his service including the Clara Barton Award for his work with the Red Cross, Lion of the Year, and Citizen of the Year from the Lions Club.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father, George Voss Jr.; mother, Norma Reynolds Voss; and younger sister, Ginger Jones along with several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Voss; son Todd (Leslie) Brophy; daughter, Debbie (Terry) Bell; son George (Diana) Voss; daughter Christy (Jason) Loveless; brother Jim Voss; 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

There will be a viewing at Hansen Mortuary in Rupert on Sunday, September 18, 2022, from 6-8 pm. The funeral will be held at 2pm on Monday, September 19, 2022, at Burley First Baptist Church which is located at 2262 Hiland Avenue. Military rites will be given at the church following the service by the Mini-Cassia Veterans Group. Burial will follow at the Paul Cemetery.
