June Lauretta (Hodge) Bill

Lauretta June Hodge Bill 87, of Rupert Idaho passed away Sunday April 2, 2023 of a long battle with cancer. June was born June 20, 1935 to Gilbert Lyman Hodge Sr. and Elsie Enoch Hodge of Burley Idaho being the eldest of six children. On August 29, 1952 June married the love of her life Leo L. Bill of Paul. They moved to Rupert where they raised their seven children together.

The family enjoyed a small farming life where they had a garden, fruit trees and animals. June enjoyed the fruits of her labor by canning hundreds of quarts of vegetables, jams, and jellies. June made yogurt, cheeses, and homemade ice cream. She raised her prized Nubian goats for many years taking them to the county fairs claiming most of the ribbons and prizes. Her scratch breads and cookies were among the favorites for the entire family.

June was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She spent many years doing genealogy and tracking down family stories. June was very talented at oil and acrylic painting, quilting, sewing, knitting & crocheting along with crafts of every kind. June was so skilled she taught toll painting classes. She worked at Simplot in Heyburn as well as Ore Ida and McCains foods.

June’s husband Leo passed away in 1997 followed by three of her daughters Rebecca Bill Holgate; Ruth Koch Ellenberger; Sarah Bill Ball. She was also preceded in death by her younger siblings Gilbert (Dick) Lyman Hodge Jr.; Sharon Hodge Cannon; Dian Hodge and infant sister Saundra Beth Hodge. June is survived by her younger brother Phillip Hodge of Burley as well as Her  children Steven & Stella Bill of Rupert; Mathew &Helen Bill of Rupert; Rachel Bill Kelsey of Paul; Deborah Bill Valdez of Burley; sister-in-law Gloria Hodge; Son-in-Laws William Holgate; Richard Ball. June was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. We love you June, we will cherish you always! Graveside for friends and family 11:00 Friday at the Paul cemetery. Dinner will be immediately following at the LDS church 26th S. 100 W. Rupert Idaho 83350. Arrangements are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.
