January 16th 1943 – January 26th 2023 (80 years young)

Born to Cecil Hyrum Weekes and Hellen Port Weekes in Driggs Idaho. Kathy was the fourth child of five, but was later joined by four additional younger sisters.

Kathy lived in Victor, Idaho until the age of six before moving to Oakley Idaho. At about the age of fourteen, her family moved to Rupert Idaho.

Kathy met Jack LaVern Bailey at the age of sixteen; they later married on February 23, 1961 when she was eighteen years old. On May 23, 1964, they were sealed for all time and eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple. Kathy has been a faithful member of the Latter Day Saints and raised her children within that faith.

Jack and Kathy made Rupert, Idaho their home. In 1961, they had their first daughter, Lezlie. Tami followed in 1962. In October 1963, Jack and Kathy purchased their home in Heyburn, Idaho where in 1965, Jack Jr joined the family. In 1972, Bill the baby joined the family, this rounded their family out nicely.

Throughout her life Kathy has worn many hats. Among all the jobs she had Kathy enjoyed waitressing, cooking, and nursing. When not working Kathy had many hobbies that she enjoyed such as sewing, crocheting, ceramics, knitting, and quilting;  which she shared with family and friends. Her favorite job of all time was being a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, let’s not forget being a wife.

When Kathy was forty she had a mid-life crisis. She went back to school, received her GED, and continued onto college. She attended College of Southern Idaho and became an LPN. She retired from nursing in 2007.  At that time she started her most favorite job of all time; being a full time grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her father Cecil Weekes, Step-mother Marion Weekes, Mother Hellen Port McGill, Step-father Ed McGill, her Baby sister Francis McGill and two grandsons Skylare Scott Hall and Skyler Rae Bailey.

Kathy is survived by her husband of nearly 62 years Jack. L. Bailey, her children Lezlie (George) Darnell of Rupert Idaho, Tami (John) Kaiser of Pingree Idaho, Jack Jr. (Nia) Bailey of Acequia Idaho, Bill (Christy) Bailey of Paul Idaho, 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

We would like to thank St. Luke’s Magic Valley Cancer Center for their caring service over the past year. A very special Thank you to Lyndsi Bailey and Nicholas Thomander for the care they gave our mother and father every day this last year.
