Maria Hernandez Obituary

Known as Carmelita by her grandchildren and many friends was a strong, kind, and often stubborn woman. Maria was the  third born of eight to Jose and Magdalena Hernandez on April 26, 1943, in Matugeo, Michoacán, Mexico. She grew up in her small town where she met the love of her life Salvador Hernandez. Salvador and Maria married in 1958 and gave birth to their first born son, Ofelio Hernandez (Raquel), September of 1960. They later gave birth to two daughters, in 1966 Roselia Perez (Alfredo), and in 1978 Silvia Ceja (Santiago). In 1979 they migrated their family to the United States and settled in Hansen, Idaho where she and her husband worked for Magic Milk Dairy. They then became grandparents for the first time in the year 1980. They welcomed a total of thirteen grandchildren, followed by twenty-six great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.

Maria was greatly supported by her family after the passing of her husband in 2003.  She then relocated with her daughter Silvia in Rupert, Idaho. During this time, she would travel to Mexico for six months out of the year to care for her dear mother Magdalena in Mexico. She cared for her until the passing of her mother in 2012. She then too lost her son. In the previous four years before Maria’s passing she resided in Paul, Idaho with her daughter Roselia. Maria was full of life. She was strong willed and she adored being surrounded by family and friends. She loved gardening, and all types of flowers. But most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Maria is preceded in death by her parents, three siblings, her husband, and her son. She is survived by her two daughters and all her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
