Michael Alan Swenson

Michael Alan Swenson was born on January 18th, 1964 in St. Louis, Missouri to Alan and Sheila Swenson.  He was the oldest of 5 children.  The Swenson family moved around a bit but finally settled in Rupert, Idaho, where Mike graduated from Minico High School in 1982.  After high school, Mike attended Rick’s College and then served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Brussels, Belgium Mission.  After his mission he married Ingrid Havrenne of Grand Reng, Belgium in 1986 and they were sealed for time and eternity in the Swiss temple.  Mike and Ingrid moved to Moscow, Idaho where Mike attended the University of Idaho.  He graduated with a B.A.  in Foreign Languages and Minors in International Business and Economics, followed by a Masters in Economics.

Mike and Ingrid’s first daughter, Jessica, was born in 1988, and a second daughter, Kellianne, joined the family in 1992.  The Swensons moved to the Pacific Northwest where they spent the next 23 years.  In 2001, they were blessed with the birth of their son, Marc.

Mike enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids, being outdoors, and working on classic cars.  He developed many close friends through his employment.  Mike had a wry sense of humor and was quick to laugh.  He was a beloved husband, son, brother, father, grandfather, nephew, cousin, and uncle, and he will be dearly missed.

Mike was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, and his mother, Sheila Swenson.

Mike is survived by his wife, Ingrid Swenson; children: Jessica (Marcus) Ferguson of Vancouver WA, Kellianne (Luke) Rosemann of Kalama, WA, and Marc Swenson of Kalama, WA; his grandchildren: Deklin, Isla, and Beau; his father Alan Swenson of Rupert, ID; and siblings: Michelle (Scott) Rasmussen of Grace, ID, Jennifer (Mike) Tilley of Burley, ID, Jeff (Shalene) Swenson of Rupert, ID, and Greg (Ashlee) Swenson of Saratoga Springs, UT.

Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 21st, 2018 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 324 E 18th St., Rupert, ID.  A viewing will be held prior to services, starting at 10:15.  Burial will follow at the M.A.R. cemetery. Services are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.
