Ruth Augusta Ross, age 98, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2017 at the Countryside Care Center in Rupert, Idaho of natural causes. Ruth was born May 5, 1918 in Rupert, Idaho to Carl Victor Carlson and Ida Ellen Larson Carlson. When she was two years old, her father passed away, leaving her mother to raise her and her twin brother Robert and six year old brother Victor.
She married Robert Floyd Snapp December 20, 1936. They were blessed with three children Jay, Sheryl and Susan. They divorced in 1970. She later married Larry Freeman in 1974. He passed away in 1999. In May 2000, she married a former high school classmate, Gerald Ross. He passed away July 10, 2015.
She was a lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a member of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by her children, Jay (Luana) Snapp of Springville, Utah; Sheryl (Ben) Riding of West Jordan, Utah; Susan (Glenn) Hunsaker of Rupert, Idaho; step-daughter Catherine Francis of Oregon City, Oregon; step-sons Randy, Ronald, Roger and Bob Freeman and step-daughter Cynthia Race. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Victor Carlson and Robert Carlson and their spouses Mary Ellen and Barbara and grandson, Timmy Riding. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, thirty-eight great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank all of the wonderful caregivers at the Countryside Care Facility in Rupert, Idaho.
A viewing will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 7, 2017 at the Hansen Mortuary 710 6th Street in Rupert. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 8, 2017 also at the mortuary. Burial will take place in the Rupert, Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Hansen Mortuary.
