Michelle Rathe-Assel, 44 passed away Tuesday July 26, 2016 in Filer, Idaho at her home. Michelle was born April 29, 1972 in Rupert, Idaho to Orville and Janet Rathe. She was married to Herb Assel on January 6, 2009. She grew up in Rupert and lived with her husband in Filer. Michelle graduated from Minico High School in 1990. She was a homemaker and attended church at St. Nicholas. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, horse riding, cooking, spending time with family and spending time riding trails.
Michelle is survived by her husband Herb Assel and her children Courtney Rathe, Chloe Rathe and Dominic Assel, her mother Janet Rathe, brothers Travis (Leslie) and Tyrel (Crystal) Rathe and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She is preceded in death by her father Orville Rathe, grandparents Orvin and Gertrude Rathe and Harvey and Catherine Marcotte, Father in law Herbert Assel Mother in law Nancy Assel.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday August 3, 2016 at St. Nicholas Catholic church in Rupert with burial to follow at the Rupert Cemetery. Viewing for family and friends will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. Tuesday August 2, 2016 at Hansen Mortuary and one hour prior to services at the church. A donation site in memory of Michelle Rathe-Assel has been set up on Minico Class of 1990 Facebook page. All donations will go to Michelle's daughters Courtney and Chloe Rathe on behalf of MHS Class of 1990. Deadlines for donations will be August 31, 2016. Proceeds will be sent to a beneficiary account at DL Evans bank in Burley.
