Helen Pearl Gibson

Nov. 27, 1950 - Feb. 8, 2015

Date of Service: Feb. 16, 2015

Helen Pearl Gibson, 64, of Burley, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2015, at her home after a 3 year battle with ovarian cancer. Helen was born November 27, 1950, in Auburn, California to LeRoy and Bertha Williams Ferrell. She was married to Richard Gibson on June 15, 1968, in Reno, Nevada. Helen lived in Olivehurst, California until her marriage where she then moved to Salt Lake City, Utah and then on to Burley, Idaho. She attended Yuba Gardens grade school in Olivehurst and Marysville High School in Marysville, California.
Helen worked with foster children and had a daycare in her home for 20 years. This allowed her to be home to raise her children. She was also able to watch some of her nieces and nephews, as well as the neighborhood children grow up. She looked forward to spending time with her grandchildren and loved being able to watch her oldest granddaughter for the first two years of her life. She then worked for Parke View Care and Rehabilitation Center for 7 years in the Activities Department until she was forced to retire due to her illness. Helen enjoyed sewing clothing and blankets, fishing, camping, and being outdoors spending time with her husband and family.
Helen's passion was gardening. She loved flowers and had a wide variety of plants inside and out that she cared for. She was always excited to show visitors the new blooms on her plants. She loved to take starts and give them to her friends and family so they could start their own.
Helen is survived by her husband, Richard Gibson; children, Jamie (James Ramsey) Thompson and Richard (Sabrina) Gibson; her grandchildren, Emma Thompson, Alexa Ramsey, Hunter Ramsey, Tristen Plaster, and Kaleie Gibson; her brother, John Charles Ferrell of Washington and her sisters, Nadine Phillips and Susie Green of California; her mother-in-law, Mary Gibson; brother-in-law, Wayne Gibson; and her sister-in-law, Geraldine Sangston all of California. She was preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law, Ernest Wayne Gibson; her brothers, Melvin, Joe, Albert, and Billie Ferrell; and her sisters, Colleen McDowell, and Pauline Triplett.
Helen's family would like to give special thanks to Jay and Mary Jane Bench and their family for their kindness and support over the years and also to Horizon Home Health and Hospice for caring for Helen in her final weeks.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 16, 2015, at Hansen Mortuary, 710 6th Street, Rupert, Idaho. Viewing for family and friends will be held on Sunday, February 15, 2015, from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services at the mortuary. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Heyburn.
