Wanda Rae Macklin- Our beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, cousin, friend and neighbor- passed peacefully in her sleep on Friday, December 4, 2015 at her home in Rupert, Idaho. Wanda had many loving conversations with family earlier that day happily making plans for the coming holidays with her sister and family in Caldwell, ID.
Wanda was born May 16, 1940 to Floyd and Ethel (Adams) Thurber in Twin Falls, ID. She grew up and attended school in Hazelton, ID. She married Lyman (Pug) Macklin and from this union was to come her only child, William Lee (Billy) Macklin.
Being the oldest of four children, Wanda often cared for her younger brothers and sister. They had a strong bond their entire lives. Wanda had a lifelong love for animals - especially horses and dogs. She had a special bond with animals that are rare. Wanda loved old cars- especially her '57 Chevy and Ford Galaxie 500 convertible. Wanda loved to tool leather and made a variety of holsters, gun belts, etc. She had a talent for photography and loved taking pictures of family and friends.
Wanda had a thoughtful and generous spirit and a knack for remembering little things that family and friends had casually mentioned, and then she would manage to find that little thing and give to them. In a close-knit family she will be dearly missed.
Wanda is survived by her son Billy and wife Robin; their two children- Jonathan (Ashley) Macklin and Amber (Macklin) Rider - all of Hollywood, Florida; sister Stella (Thurber) Gracia- of Caldwell, ID; four great grands; 11 nieces and nephews; and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Leon and Harold Thurber; and all aunts and uncles on both Adams and Thurber sides.
Wanda's family would like to thank her many helpful and caring neighbors, Randy Thompson; Dr. Boettcher and office staff; Joel H of Hansen's mortuary - who helped her over the years to plan and have in place her wishes for this time of sadness.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Hansen Mortuary with gathering for family and friend will be held for one hour prior to the services. Services will conclude with burial in the Rupert Cemetery under the direction of Hansen Mortuary.
