Connie Kay Harkness

Dec. 31, 1950 - Oct. 20, 2026

HEYBURN - Connie K. Harkness, age 75, of Heyburn, Idaho, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at her home, surrounded by loved ones.

Connie was born on December 31, 1950, at the Cottage Hospital to Woodrow James Mendenhall and Martha Grace Bosworth Mendenhall. She was the youngest of three daughters. She was preceded in death by her beloved sisters, Lois Ann Allen and Joyce B. Cleary, as well as her parents.

Connie grew up in Heyburn, Idaho, and graduated from Minico High School. She was employed by and retired from the State of Idaho USDA State Inspection.

On March 29, 1969, Connie married Herman Kirby Harkness Jr. Together, they had two children, Lauri and Brandon, who were a treasured part of her life. Connie loved her family with a fierceness that was unmistakable. Her love was strong, unwavering, and deeply rooted in the people closest to her. Family meant everything to Connie, and she carried that love throughout her life.

Connie loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, golfing, floating the river, and riding in the mountains. She was also an amazing softball player and an incredible cook. She had a gift for bringing people together, whether through shared adventures, time spent outdoors, or a home-cooked meal. She loved being active and was always up for an adventure, with a willingness to try just about anything. If someone called with plans, Connie was usually game to join in. Her adventurous spirit, athletic ability, and enthusiasm for life made her someone who was always ready to have fun, try something new, and make lasting memories.

Connie is survived by her husband, Kirby; her daughter, Lauri (Karma); and her son, Brandon (Regina). She also leaves behind five grandchildren, along with bonus children and grandchildren whom she loved very deeply. Her fierce love for her family and the memories they shared will remain in their hearts forever.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Auburn Crest Hospice for their dedication, compassion, and professionalism in caring for Connie and supporting her and her loved ones during this difficult time. Their kindness and care are deeply appreciated.

At her request no formal service will be held.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Hansen Mortuary of Rupert.
