Daniel William Lee Higley

Jan. 27, 1989 - May 30, 2026

HEYBURN – Daniel William Lee Higley, was born on January 27,1989, in Burley, Idaho, to Michael and Christine Higley. He joined one sister and two brothers at home, and four more brothers came to follow him. Daniel left this world at the age of 37, on or about May 30, 2026.

Daniel was a beautiful and smiley baby. He was always so loving. He grew into an extremely smart and talented individual. He loved cooking, baking, helping Mom with her flowers in the yard and helping Grandpa McBride mow his lawn. He also loved hunting and fishing with his dad and brothers. Daniel loved playing soccer and football in junior high. He was a good student and a hard worker. He worked at Rupert Glass, Deno’s, and drove trucks in the oil fields in North Dakota, and for HD Customs.

Daniel met Kara Hance in high school and he was hooked. After high school, Daniel and Kara started their life together. Daniel helped to raise Roxy, Kara’s daughter whom he loved as his own. To Daniel and Kara’s union they added two boys, Jayde, 17, and Kye, 12. Daniel’s family was his world, and he wanted to provide the best that he could for them, even if it meant being far away working in North Dakota. Daniel would spoil them when he came home with love and fun excursions.

All the time being away took a toll and Daniel and Kara’s relationship and he stayed in North Dakota where he bought a home and 20 acres. He loved the sunsets and would send pictures of them often. He loved raising his chickens, but the coyotes loved his tasty chickens, too. Daniel spent several years working in North Dakota, a place that held a special place in his heart. He valued the friendships, experiences and memories he made there. He found purpose there in his work and his life. In accordance with his wishes his ashes will be spread in North Dakota.

Daniel returned to the Mini-Cassia area where he tried to get his life back on track and beat his demons. His addictions and mental health issues increased and he couldn’t cope anymore. He just wanted the pain to stop.

He will be remembered for the impact that he had on the lives of those he knew and loved him. Those who were close to Daniel knew him for his kind heart, and willingness to help others, and his ability to fix anything.

Above all Daniel was a father. His children were an important part of his life and the love he had for them will continue to live on through the memories they shared together.

His family hopes that his passing serves as a reminder of the importance of compassion, understanding, and support for those experiencing mental health issues and addiction.

Daniel is survived by his sons, Jayde and Kye; his parents, Michael and Christine Higley, of Burley; his sister, Jennifer (Rhinnaldi) Rodriguez, of Mascoutah, IL, six brothers, Bernie (Lizbet), of Kimberly, ID, Jonathan (Crystal), of Washington, UT, Ethan (Jessica Richard) of Rupert, ID, Zach (Shyanne) of Albany, OR, Zeb, of Burley, ID, and Landon (Kylie), of Heyburn, ID; as well as numerous nieces, nephews; aunts, uncles; and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Glen and Vaona McBride; and his paternal grandparents, Ron and Elaine Higley.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been set up to help with costs of cremation and for his children. You can donate at ICCU to the Daniel Higley memorial, Acct # 6289 or his mom’s venmo @Christine-McBrideHigley for “Daniel’s memorial.”

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Hansen Mortuary of Rupert.
