RUPERT – Amando Gil Ramirez, age 79, of Rupert, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026, in Ogden, Utah, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Mission, Texas, Amando lived a life marked by hard work, humility, faith, and an unwavering devotion to those he loved.
As a young child, Amando was raised in Petoria, Michoacán, Mexico, where he spent his early years surrounded by family, community, and the values that would shape the man he became. At the age of 16, he relocated to the United States in search of new opportunities and a brighter future. He would go on to spend most of his life in Idaho, where he built a home, raised his family, and became known for his strong work ethic and kind heart.
He was the cherished son of Felix and Juliana Gil Ramirez, who taught him the importance of family, perseverance, and treating others with kindness and respect. These values guided him throughout his life and were reflected in the way he cared for his family and community.
Amando proudly served for a brief time in the United States military while living in Glenns Ferry, Idaho. Though his service was short, he carried a deep sense of duty, responsibility, and pride throughout his life.
Amando shared a beautiful life with his beloved wife, Catarina Ramirez Salinas. Together they built a family rooted in love, strength, and dedication. Although Catarina preceded him in death, her memory remained close to his heart, and the love they shared continued to inspire him throughout his life.
A hardworking man with a gentle spirit, Amando found joy in life's simple blessings. He loved spending time outdoors, caring for his cattle, working in his garden, and enjoying the peace and beauty of nature. He was never afraid of hard work and took pride in providing for his family. Those who knew him will remember his strong hands, his quiet wisdom, and the steady presence that brought comfort to those around him.
Above all, Amando was a devoted father whose greatest pride was his family. He leaves behind his loving children: Bertha "Betty" Ramirez Ruiz, Eriverto "Veve" Ramirez, Felix Ramirez, Lidia "Lila" Ramirez, and Amando Ramirez Jr. His love, guidance, and example will continue to live on through each of them.
He is also survived by his youngest brother, Raul Ramirez, with whom he shared a lifelong bond of family, memories, and love. In addition, he leaves behind numerous grandchildren; and great-grandchildren who brought immeasurable joy to his life. He treasured every moment spent with them and took great pride in watching his family grow through the generations. Amando faced life's challenges with quiet courage and dignity. Even during difficult times, he remained strong, patient, and compassionate. His family will forever remember the lessons he taught through his actions: to work hard, love deeply, remain humble, and never lose faith.
Though his passing leaves a profound emptiness in the hearts of those who loved him, his memory will continue to be a source of comfort, strength, and inspiration. His legacy lives on in the values he passed down, the family he cherished, and the countless lives he touched with his kindness.
His family finds peace in knowing that he has been reunited with his beloved Catarina and is now resting in God's eternal embrace. While he will be deeply missed, he will never be forgotten.
"Those we love don't go away; they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near.”
