BURLEY – Vickie Marie (Hemsley) Turney, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2026, at the age of 73, at her home with her family by her side.

She was born in Rexburg, Idaho, on May 29, 1953, to Nola and Richard Hemsley. Vic grew up alongside her four siblings Sam, Richard, Nola and Jim, who she remained close to throughout her life.

She graduated from Minico High School in 1971. As a young woman, Vickie faithfully served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Lansing, Michigan. This experience strengthened her lifelong faith and love for serving and truly caring for others.

Vickie married the love of her life, Jim Turney, on March 29, 1984. Together they built a family centered on love, faith, and the outdoors. She was a devoted mother to her sons, Nick and Chris, and later welcomed her daughter-in-law, McKel, into the family as her own. Nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with her cherished grandchildren, Hebgen Lee and Basin Owen.

Though she will be deeply missed, Vic’s love, faith, and beautiful example will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be remembered for her unwavering love of family, generous heart, quiet strength, and ability to make everyone feel cared for. Her legacy lives on in the traditions she created the memories she shared, and the love she gave so freely.

Vickie is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Jim Turney; their boys: Nick, Calais, Maine, Chris & McKel, of Kuna, Idaho; her grandchildren: Hebgen and Basin; her siblings: Sam Willams (Garth), Richard Hemsley (Julieann), Nola Swenson (Reed), and many nieces and nephews who she loved so dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Nola Hemsley, and her brother, Jim Hemsley.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the physicians, nurses, and staff at The Huntsman Cancer Institute. Along with Dr. Graham and Horizon Home Health and Hospice for their compassionate care, kindness, and support throughout Vickie’s cancer journey.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 16, at Hansen Mortuary, located at 710 6th Street in Rupert, where a viewing will be held from 9 until 9:45 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Rupert Cemetery.

Sending so much love ! I did Vickie’s hair for many years. Through out her time in my chair 99% of the time she talked about how proud she was of her husband, kids, and the families that they had built along with the grand kids, I always love hearing about Nicks adventures and where he was at next. She absolutely loved everyone and was so genuinely kind. I will miss her in my chair every 6 weeks Heaven got a good one. You will be so missed Vickie. Thank you for the years of friendship
Sending so much love and prayers to the family
