Dal Gene Bradley Sr. lovingly known as "Rotten", 82 of Burley, took his first steps into eternity on Thursday, March 23, 2017, at Cassia Regional Hospital in Burley, Idaho.
Dal was born on April 18, 1934 in Shelley, Idaho, the son of Amos Melvin Bradley and Hazel McGary. He was the 12th child of 13, and the 9th son. Dal worked hard all of his life, starting when he was 8 years old after his father passed away suddenly. He worked many jobs, always giving his wages to his mother to help her support the family. Dad played football in high school, before quitting school to serve in the US Navy. He was in the Navy from 1951 to 1955, and was proud to be a Korean Veteran. He was able to tour the world during his service.
Dal met the love of his life, Helen Marie Walton, at the Eastern Idaho State Fair. They were married on October 12, 1952 in Shelley, Idaho. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls, Idaho temple on January 16, 1961. They had 2 sons; Dal Gene Jr, and A. Melvin; and 2 daughters; Dalrie Petrea and Teresa Marie. They lived in Moreland, Idaho Falls, and for the past 24 years in Burley, Idaho. After the Navy, Dad worked as a police officer for the Blackfoot Police Force, and then as a security guard at the AEC site near Arco. He also helped on a farm in his spare time. Dad loved gardening and farming, and always had a beautiful yard.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Helen Bradley, his children Gene (Veronica) Bradley of Reedsport, Oregon, Mel of Idaho Falls, Idaho and Teresa (Leonardo) Vargas of Burley, Idaho. He has 12 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 17 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Karen (John) Little, and Ruth Patterson.
Dad was preceded in death by one daughter, Dalrie Bradley, his parents, eight brothers, two sisters, and three grandchildren. We would like to thank the nurses, doctors, and Hospice staff at Cassia Regional for their dedicated, compassionate care of Dad during these past few days. It was much appreciated.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday March 28, 2017 at Hansen Mortuary of Rupert, Idaho. A viewing will be held Monday March 27, 2017 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. and for 1 hour prior the funeral services, under the direction of Hansen Mortuary.
