You had a good run; you can hold your head high,
Saddle up cowboy for your last ride in the sky
Randy was born on October 2, 1940 to his loving parents Hamilton and Vivian Head in Phoenix, Arizona. Randy was the fourth of six children and grew up in a home where family was everything.
At the age of 17 he joined the United States Navy and served overseas in the Vietnam War on the USS Jarvis. Even at such a young age, Randy was very patriotic and fought hard for his country. Through service to his country, loyal patriotism lasted throughout his life.
Over his lifetime Randy worked many occupations. After leaving the Navy he worked on a ranch in Hobbs, New Mexico where his love for horses and outdoors flourished. After a time, he moved to Oregon where he worked as a logger and helped build Lake Selmac in Grants Pass. Upon leaving Oregon, Randy made his way back to Arizona where he worked training and breaking horses on ranch in Chino Valley. While in Arizona, Randy also spent multiple years riding bulls in the professional circuit. Eagle Mountain California was the next place Randy hung his hat; he worked there in the mines before deciding his heart belonged in Idaho. He first worked in Pocatello at the JR Simplot Plant doing maintenance. He then found himself in Paul, Idaho where he began working for Weliever's Welding and Machine Shop and later moving to the Amalgamated Sugar Factory, where he worked for many years as a welder and mechanic, before retiring in 2010.
In May of 1982 Randy married the love of his life Karry Moss. They settled in Paul, Id and were blessed with two children, who shared his love of the outdoors. Many weekend camping trips, desert drives, and mountain hikes were common family activities. Randy enjoyed his guns, and loved hunting. He was an avid supporter of the NRA. Year after year he successfully tagged deer, and venison was a common winter staple.
Randy was a true cowboy, with a special love for horses. You could often find him at the race track cheering on his horses. When he wasn't at the track you could find him at Shaker's either dancing with Karry to the Fugitives, or playing on their annual pool league. Randy loved playing pool and on many occasions was heard promising to take it easier on someone, as long as they would play another round. He also loved bowling, and was on a bowling team with his wife and in-laws for many years.
Randy was very loved by the community and had many close friends. He would drop everything to help someone, no matter what the time.
After a brief battle with cancer, Randy passed away September 8, 2017 at the age of 76 surrounded by family in Twin Falls, Idaho.
